TAHINI / TAHINI PASTE

Tahini or Tahini paste is widely used in Middle Eastern cuisine. It is made from lightly toasted sesame seeds which imparts a nutty flavour to it.

Tahini is an important component of many Middle Eastern preparations like hummus, baba ganoush, tahini sauce and others.

Toasting the sesame seeds helps to release their oils. Olive oil is added to enhance its flavour and also increase its shelf life.

I have used the organic variety of sesame seeds, hence the colour. White sesame seeds will yield you white tahini paste.
