JEERA RICE

Jeera rice is a simplest preparation of rice. It is prepared with basmati rice and it goes very well with all kinds of dals and curries. One method of preparation is to temper the cooked rice while the other method is to cook the rice with the tempering. This recipe is prepared by the later method.

Condiments or khada masala like black cardamom, green cardamom, caraway seeds, bay leaves , etc are used for tempering. The jeera rice is so flavourful that it can be as it is.

I like to use only shahjeera or caraway seeds in my jeera rice. Its subtle flavour compliments very well the flavourful dal tadka, rajma or any kind of curry. Feel free to add condiments of your choice.

Soaking the basmati rice is very essential for the light and fluffy texture. It also reduces the cooking time. Medium to low heat should be used for this preparation.
